Why Buying 50 Used Toyota Cars from Taiwan Is Not as Easy as You Think
After more than 10 years in the Taiwan used car export business, I have met many overseas car dealers and importers from different countries.
Very often, a new buyer contacts me and says:
“I need 50 cars.”
“I can buy 100 cars every month.”
It sounds like a great opportunity.
But there is something many international buyers don’t understand about the Taiwan used car market.
Taiwan has many beautiful, well-maintained and competitively priced used Toyota cars, including Toyota Corolla, Corolla Altis, RAV4, Yaris and many other popular models.
However, Taiwan is not a huge market where exporters keep 50 or 100 identical vehicles waiting in a warehouse.
Every day, we source different models, years, mileage, colors and conditions from the local Taiwan market.
Even if we have 10 or 15 good Toyota Corolla or Corolla Altis available, buyers from several different countries may already be interested in them.
So who gets the good cars?
The answer is simple:
Serious buyers, realistic market prices and a good business relationship.
That’s why I always tell new overseas buyers:
Don’t start by telling me you want 50 or 100 cars. Let’s successfully complete the first container first.
If the first shipment goes smoothly, the second becomes easier.
After the second and third shipments, we understand your market, preferred models, budget and the vehicle condition you expect.
And when particularly good vehicles become available, we naturally remember customers who have shown sincerity and kept their word.
After more than 10 years exporting used cars from Taiwan, one thing has become very clear to me:
A reliable vehicle supply relationship is not built by promising to buy 100 cars.
It is built one successful container at a time.
